About

👋 I’m Sakthi, a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) evangelist with over 20 years of manufacturing industry experience. I hold an undergraduate degree in Instrumentation Engineering and a postgraduate degree in Management & Information Technology. Currently, I live in Boston, USA.

I love to write. I love to take notes. Since my school days, writing has been my preferred method for effective learning. Whenever I encounter something new – whether a term, concept or topic, I start recording notes. Over time, I transform these notes into longform essays that my past self with no prior-knowledge can understand.  My strong belief is that notes help you understand how something works, but converting them to essays help you understand why something works. Notes serve as a reference, but essays help form an opinion.

This website is intentionally opinionated. I hold the belief that, as a practitioner, evaluating an approach is as crucial as the approach itself. The challenge lies in the fact that, opinions can and should evolve. Your opinion may vary, and my view on the matter might change in the future. Nevertheless, if you disagree with my opinion, feel free to write me a rebuttal. If your rebuttal adds value to a respectful discussion, I’ll revise the article and include a link to the discussion.

This is a personal project, solely created by me, and I recognize my limits in covering the vast universe of product lifecycle management. I do not claim to be and cannot be an expert in all PLM subtopics. However, I take every care to thoroughly research each article I write to provide accurate information to the best of my abilities. If you find any factual errors, typos, or logical fallacies, please bring it to my attention so I can address them.

If you have ideas for improvement, questions, or suggestions for topics to write about, please tell me. If an explanation is hard to follow, please let me know, so I can clarify.

The goal of this website is to distill my decades of hands-on experience into practical advice and thought leadership. To maximize this site’s usefulness, I’ve divided it into following sections:

  • Posts: succinct articles exploring variety of topics – PLM concepts, commentary on industry trends, reviews on tools, and hopefully some real-world case studies.
  • Longform essays: complex concepts require a lot of words in order to explore them in-depth and explain properly, carefully structured for easy skimming and digestion.
  • Manuals: trying an unique approach to write in public and refine with your feedback.
  • Beyond PLM: discussions that extend beyond PLM into related domains.

Whether you’re just thinking of implementing PLM for your company or are a seasoned practitioner, I believe there’s always more to learn and share in this rapidly evolving space. Let’s push the boundaries of product innovation further together.

I look forward to exchanging ideas and connecting with you. You can find me on LinkedIn, Twitter, or email – sakthi AT PLM101.com. Please subscribe to my newsletter to receive updates on the latest content and projects.
